High-fructose corn syrup: Sweet poison

by Marvin and Nancy Widrick | post a comment

Is high-fructose corn syrup really the same as sugar? How does high-fructose corn syrup compare to maple syrup?

A short outtake from the article:

There are two "natural" sweeteners: honey and maple syrup, as well as the natural sugars found in fruits. Table sugar is only half as bad as High-Fructose Corn Syrup, with one molecule of glucose and one molecule of fructose. The glucose can be metabolized for energy at the cellular level, stored in the liver for later conversion, or when too much is consumed, converted to fat. Fructose, on the other hand, takes the express conversion route to fat in your liver.
